The Trenton YMCA was in desperate need of a central program facility since its original, historic structure [the site of the first professional basketball game – an NBA landmark] was torn down to make room for new development. Operating out of a converted supermarket branch, the board commissioned a feasibility study and design for a full service family and fitness center to be located in the historical Roebling Industrial Complex.

The new complex included a full time day care center; program building; a wellness center with separate adult and youth areas; a double court field house, and a 5-pool aquatic center.
